The Woods

Schnabels' Woods is located in upper Bucks County, Pennsylvania, just one mile north of Lake Nockamixon State Park. It is an easy one hour drive from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a two hour drive from New York City. Both car trips are conveniently made via access to major highways.

There is a tremendous amount to do at Schnabels' Woods or, if you prefer, do nothing but relax. But either way, Schnabels' Woods and Bucks County has it all.

Enjoy the woods. Walking and hiking trails are in abundance through woods, fields and along the Tohickon Stream or the three ponds located on the property.  Canoe or kayak along the Tohickon Stream or take a swim in the stream during summer, skate during the winter.

The forest is beautiful; the mature trees consist of varieties of tall oaks, poplar, and hickory. Younger forested areas include eastern red cedar and silver maple. Spring reveals an abundance of dogwood blossoms, just as summer reveals a multitude of fireflies like diamonds in the night. The woods also reveal an ecosystem of gentle living things, such as deer, wild turkey, fox, mink and great blue heron. The creek will reveal still more such as bass, trout and other fish and creek life. Beautiful flora abounds, wildflowers of hundreds of varieties exist amid the woods and rolling meadows. We are in a microcosm, our own private nature preserve.

If you wish for a more social experience, Bucks County boasts a rich historical, social and cultural diversity. Take country drives through rolling Bucks County farmland. Visit local theaters and museums. Golf, tennis, shopping and fine dining abound in the area.

South of Schnabels' Woods is Doylestown, Pennsylvania, the Bucks County seat. There you can find such attractions as The Mercer Museum, The James A. Mitchner Art Museum and the Moravian Tile Works, among others.

New Hope is an artistic community located directly on the Delaware River and the Delaware River canal just 30 minutes east. You can shop, dine and visit some of the area's most interesting attractions such as the New Hope Railroad, The Canal Boat Rides, and the Bucks County Playhouse.

North of Schnabels' Woods are Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton, home of Musikfest and the Zoellner Arts Center.  The Lehigh Valley also features the Trexler Game Preserve, Dorney Park, The Crayola Factory, Martin Guitars, Nazareth Speedway and more. We are located with close access to the Pocono Mountains and the Lancaster County areas via four-lane highway. Downhill ski resorts are easily accessible.

The surrounding area offers dining at some of Pennsylvania's finest restaurants as well as diverse shopping, from flea markets, such as the Quakertown Farmers Market, and outlet malls, such as Franklin Mills, to exclusive boutiques and department stores.

However you wish to spend your leisure time, Schnabels' Woods and Bucks County has an opportunity for you.
